Outside My Window Today
The view out my 18th floor window at around 10 AM today. They do get some fog here. I don't know why it isn't more famous because it sure comes in fast, at unusual hours of the day, and it's pretty thick. I heard the fog before I actually saw it, while I was still in bed I could hear more than the usual number of foghorns from the harbour. At work a few weeks ago, on a clear sunny day, I saw what I thought was a very fast moving wall of smoke funnelling into the harbour from the direction of Stanley Park. It's been very dry here so I assumed Stanley Park was on fire, especially since it was 2 pm. It took quite a long time to convince me it was actually fog.
I was at work today (Sunday), and heard a racket outside the window and saw a helicopter between my building and the one across the street. By the time I got my camera out it had moved to where it is here. I was not entirely surprised to see it because they are shooting a film on the roof of our building, and I can see the film set in the reflection of the glass of the building opposite. They do quite a lot of film and television in Vancouver, just about every day I see evidence of it.

Is the film set still there? Take a photo of the reflection!
Hi pammie
Wow the view from your new loft is magnificent. Such a beautiful city and I'll wager the fog thing is rather frequent in providing a dramatic backdrop to something as simple as a cup of tea at the window. Of course, knowing you it would include a luscious piece of key lime pie or some such yummy delicate thing.
I have always heard and known that there is a frequent amount of filming done up there. I worked in the film biz for five years while living in Los Angeles but, I never made it up there on a job. A great industry though, a natural marriage of art and business in my opinion. Lots of good to great people work in and at it. Kinda miss it myself. Mostly the business model where several mutually exclusive and talented people come together, form a nucleus, execute a project and then disband. I really enjoyed this type of going through life. It suits me and I've tried to uphold the model ever since.
Pammie there is no such thing as too nice but if there were such a thing, you would be cited well before me as you fit the bill! I am not really stuck in Des Moines and do get around somewhat. It would be really special to get to your city in the next year and be able to meet and hang out for a while. This bloggy deal has really gotten to me...how one can come to know others, acquire truth and insight from people around the world, just by expressing ourselves on our blogs. Its like we put our journals and art out there for the world to read and share and good people respond. Just like I envisioned life to be when I was a much younger version of myself. So, thanks for being a great bloggy friend. Its rather funny but, you start to care about people youv'e never really met...like if you pammie fell down a manhole or something and couldn't get out...your bloggy friends would do anything in their power to help you out. I don't know, call a TV station of something. Wait, I suppose it would be the police, or local friends or something. In any case...strange that virtual friends are/could be virtually there for you. Unlike online dating which seems to be a huge phenomenon, blogging is much more raw and honest. I haven't met anybody who enjoys it or praises it but, I'm sure many do. I've never tried it...not my style. Old fashioned? Maybe.
When I referred to digging in Ireland, I was making somewhat of a joke about digging as I assumed you were probably working for someone over there who was doing some such thing. Wasn't at all funny, was it. An old friend of mine moved there several years ago. I guess they do dig up the rocks and make fences out of them as this is what denoted his property lines from the Murphy's and the O'hara's and the Noonans.
I enjoyed seeing a pic of you, that one on the nile. Very paintable you are. Okay, I've rambled enough. Gotta get to waggin the brush! My palette is registering 98,356 kriging weight...not a good thing. Have a wonderful week pammie!
